Yes, summer is going strong with heats that rival passion. But let’s take a couple of minutes to think about the reprieve that autumn will bring along with the harvest. I look forward to the nice long drives, falling leaves, and beautiful colors. That and the drop in temperature. Fall brings a bountiful harvest, Halloween and bests off al, l my birthday. more on that later, for now, let’s take a drive to the country. a very short ride from downtown DC and this DC hotel common good city farm a place where you can volunteer, learn about farming, and grow your own vegetables. Common good city farm is an Urban focused farm with lots of life, hope, fun, and dreams. Another beautiful spot to visit this autumn is The National Arboretum. Located less than 5 miles from American Guest House (not sure you might want to walk as there’ll be plenty of walking there), the arboretum provides a smorgasbord of picturesque scenery in a tranquil atmosphere. There will be plenty of an opportunity to ask about horticulture and herbology. Herbert Beery is a most gracious host and with his history in theatre, he tends to be a little entertaining. bonus points if you bring One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi by Phyllida Spore
With plenty to do other than site seeing in Washington DC, it’ll be no wonder you forgot my birthday. Conveniently located right in the middle of autumn and just a week before Halloween
