This June 23rd and 24th 2018, our nation’s capital will become a temporary home for a legendary fight–but this time both sides will want to cross the aisle to get a taste of what their competition is cooking. The 26th Annual Giant National BBQ Championship is yet again shaping up to be one of the summer’s most enticing and delicious events, as music lineups become announced and competitor applications start pouring in. On Saturday, June 23rd from 11AM to 9PM and Sunday, June 24th from 11AM to 7PM, competitors and spectators from across the nation will gather, on historic Pennsylvania Ave NW between 3rd and 7th Street in our nation’s capital, to watch the 2018 National BBQ Champions be crowned in the following four contest categories: BBQ Beef Brisket Contest, Perdue Sizzlin’ Chicken Contest, Smithfield BBQ Rib Contest, and the National Pork BBQ Championship. All competing teams qualify for the ultimate title of Overall Grand Champion of The Giant Barbecue Battle of 2018. All competitors and spectators are also welcome to watch the Nation’s Best BBQ Sauce Competition. Of course competitors are also welcome to bring their own competition, as our nation’s armed forces do at the Military Chefs Cook-Off.
The 2018 Lineup of Rock, Jazz, Blues and other music genre bands will also be battling for your attention this summer as they energize the atmosphere of patriots enjoying Washington DC’s toasty eighty degree weather.
Let it be noted, however, that in true Washington, DC spirit, this event will be held, rain or shine, though sunshine is always expected. Visitors are encouraged to come early to enjoy the Taste of Giant Sampling Pavilion which will include free BBQ samples, entertainment and cooking demonstrations for spectators of all ages to enjoy.
Visitors are also encouraged to purchase National Capital BBQ Battle ticket before it, and the brisket, runs out. This beautiful national tradition may even deserve its own weekend in Washington, DC, and you can’t find a Washington DC B&B more American that our American Guest House.
