March 29th-April 1st the National Association of Community Health Center (NACHC) Annual Policy and Issues Forum 2017 will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, near our Washington DC bed and breakfast. The forum is going to be the largest gathering of community health professionals in the nation that will focus on the nation’s health care system. With the recent conclusion of the presidential election, there are many questions surrounding the direction that healthcare will go, and this forum will provide the opportunity to delve into these policies. Discussions will also entail how the budgetary issues will factor into the decisions made by lawmakers. The forum allows health care professionals the chance to voice their opinions and suggestions to members of Congress.
What does the schedule entail? On Wednesday most of the day will consist of either attending the Board Member Boot Camp, the PCA and HCCN General Session (Invitation only), or the 2017 Health Center Policy Agenda, Advocacy Strategy, and How to Move Congress to ACT! session. The remainder of the forum will primarily be education sessions, exhibit times, social receptions, and committee meetings. Highlights of the sessions include, working toward payment reform, the implications of the 2016 Presidential election on the political environment in Congress and in the states, 340B drug discount policy changes and their impact on health centers, attaining clinical and financial integration in an accountable care world, and more.
