Living in Kalorama is very expensive but there are more affordable choices in Adams Morgan and areas of Dupont Circle and other neighboring areas. If you decide to have a car in DC, which is not advisable, make sure you get a place with parking, otherwise it will be a nightmare. Street parking is almost impossible and you will need a resident permit.
Dupont Circle is best known for its several restaurants, bars, shops, close proximity to the White House, young population, trendy and vibrant, and a great place for people watching.
