1. Nationals Game
Every year, the D.C.-based baseball team plays on Independence Day. This year, they’re facing the Miami Marlins where they’ll play at the Nationals Stadium set to start at 11:05 AM. The cheapest tickets start around $16 with subprime seating but still putting you in the heart of a classic Washingtonian activity. Be sure to wear your red, white and blue to show pride for the holiday while also supporting the Nationals! If you decide to head over early, you can first stop at the Eastern Market. The Eastern Market is a daily farmers market well-known around D.C. Located about a 27-minute walk or a 15-minute ride via public transit from Nats Park, this is a perfect place to grab some food before the game and see a bit of history in action.
Visit their website to check out their hours and local vendors to see what food they have to offer!
2. National Independence Day Parade
If baseball isn’t your thing – fret not. The annual Independence Day Parade is set to take place this year where you can sport your red, white and blue while seeing the city come to life. Starting at 11:45 AM and running until 2 PM. The parade will start along the corner of Constitution Ave NW and 7th St NW. Lasting about a mile long, it will then end along Constitution Ave NW and 17th st NW. If you want to keep updated on the events of the parade, head to their website here for the answers to all your questions!
3. Capital Fourth Concert
After a fun-filled day with hopefully a rest at one of the friendliest DC Inn in town, we recommend heading over early-evening to grab your spot for the annual 4th of July concert! Hosted by John Stamos, the concert starts around 8 PM on the West Lawn of the Capitol. There will be music followed by a 30-minute grand finale of fireworks spanning over the capital’s infamous monuments. It is THE event to attend. If you don’t get around to the baseball game or parade, make sure you mozy on over to the national mall for the fireworks extravaganza.
While this is a brief itinerary, when you book with us we can give you all the insider tips. Well-versed in where to go for the best food, view and a good drink, we’re prepared to make sure your 4th of July weekend is perfect.
