There’s no better place to celebrate Independence Day than here at the nation’s capital as the city will be chocked full of special celebrations. A great way to spend your Fourth of July weekend is visiting the museums and monuments in Washington, DC that tell and commemorate the history of our nation and, of course, seeing the spectacular fireworks display.
On the 241st anniversary of its signing, see the Declaration of Independence signed by our signatures of the Founding Fathers, at the National Archives. Afterwards, from 11:45 am to 2 pm, you can get a seat on the steps of the Archives for the annual National Independence Day Parade. The parade will march down Constitution Avenue featuring bands, fife and drum corps, floats, giant balloons, military and specialty units, and much more!
Another great way to spend your day is at the National Museum of American History to see the flag that inspired that Star-Spangled Banner and other stories that have shaped our nation. At night, make your way to the U.S. Capitol West Lawn for the annual free concert, A Capitol Fourth. A star-studded lineup will take the stage to perform in celebration, all of which will be broadcast live nationally.
To conclude the the 4th of July, you must go out with a bang of fireworks at the National Mall, near our Bed and Breakfast in DC. See one of the nation’s most beautiful firework displays go off above the national monuments, such as the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. The fireworks display is normally planned to start around 9 pm. Another spectacular view is from the Potomac River from one of the Entertainment Cruises. Wherever you decide to watch the fireworks in DC, it will be a memorable celebration of Independence Day at our nation’s capital.
