From July 13-16 the Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR) will be holding its annual meeting at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, near our Washington DC bed and breakfast. This year, the theme for the SSR conference is “50 Year of Research: Looking Back and Looking Forward” in celebration of their Golden Anniversary. The conference will focus on the organization’s accomplishments over the years while also recognizing future developments.
SSR 2017 will have experts in the field lead plenary sessions and lectures that will explore a variety of topics such as, epigenetics, stem cell biology, and the developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD). There will be various symposia offered throughout the four-day event, including Epigenetics in the Germline, Epigenetics Mediating Transgenerational Impact, and Preimplantation Development. Additionally, there will be a special panel that is DC oriented as there will be influential professionals from government and NGOs participating in the discussion.
In addition to the education sessions, there will be optional special events for you to attend for further training. If you’re interested in having a more in-depth understanding on technological side, there will be a Technology Workshop on July 12-13 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, less than a mile from our DC B&B. Following the conference, they will hold the ASAS-SSR Reproductive Symposium which will primarily look at the reproduction of animal/domestic livestock (USDA-related species).
To attend SSR 2017 you can register on their website. Registration fees before May 26th are: $495 for SSR Regular or Associate Members, $350 for SSR Trainees, $150 for SSR Emeritus, $750 for nonmembers, and $500 for nonmember trainees. You must register separately to attend the additional special events.
